Huaneng Hunan Yueyang Power Generation Co., Ltd. was established upon reforming the ownership system of Huaneng International Power Development Company Yueyang Branch. Xiangtou International holds 45% shares of Huaneng Hunan Yueyang Power Generation Co., Ltd., and holding shareholder Huaneng Power International, Inc. holds 55% shares of Huaneng Hunan Yueyang Power Generation Co., Ltd.
The power plant project of the company is located at Chenglingji, Yueyang, Hunan Province, occupies land of about 358 hectares, is 14km away from the city center, and neighbors Changjiang in the north and Jingguang Railway in the south. The 2 sets of 362,500kw coal fired units installed by the 1st phase engineering of Huaneng Hunan Yueyang Power Generation Co., Ltd. (“Yueyang Power Plant”) were imported from UK completely, formally started for construction in Aug. 1988, and put into production for power generation in Sep. 1991 and Dec. 1999 respectively.
The phase 2 expansion engineering of Yueyang Power Plant was started in 2003, and the construction scale was 2 sets of 300,00kw domestic made coal fired units, which were put into production for power generation in 2006, and the flue gas desulfurization device was constructed in the meantime. The construction scale of phase 3 expansion engineering was 2 sets of 600,000kw domestic made ultra supercritical coal fired units, and were built completely and put into production in Jul. 2011. The total installed capacity of this plant reaches 2.525 million kw, not only providing huge energy support for the rapid development of economy of Hunan Province, but also playing an important role in improving Hunan grid adjustment performance and power source distribution, and improving system economy and stability.
